Your Parts Manager – You Forgot To Get Him Formal Training To Run Your Business – List Of Resources

    🎒 NADA Instructor Mark A. Michalski wrote about how Parts Managers with;
▶️ under 1 year of experience, have less than 1 hour of formal training, and
▶️ those with 10+ years of experience have only 9 hours of training.

The Parts Department is a business, within a business.

It’s capable of making huge dollars. But, untrained Parts Managers may not have everything they need to take it to the next level.

✅ I’m a fan of the saying; “What you don’t know, will hurt you”.

Certainly, this is the case with Parts Managers who don’t have the depth of training they need to get your Parts Department to level up.

💰 Considering that for every Retail dollar sold in the Service Dept, you get on average $1.00 of Retail Parts sales – I’d say you’d want to have your Parts Manager trained.

I’ve been formally trained over the years, and received a ton of support from day 1, when I started out as an Assistant Parts Manager. I was fortunate enough my GM, Scott Campbell invested in me, and my skill set, so I could crush it.

Scott understood the value of having every department manager formally, and fully trained; from the Controller, to every car dept manager, to the Parts Manager.

🗒️ Here is a list of resources for Parts Managers to get the training and the help they need to crush it, from what I’ve been given and trained on over the years.

    1. NADA/NCM Parts Manager Course (in-class)
    2. Dealership CSI – Parts Department Consultants – Jerry Roemer
    3. Book – Professional Inventory Management Guide – Mike Nicholes
    4. Book – Up Your Business – Dave Anderson
    5. DealerEdge.com – Online Recorded Workshops/Manuals/Resources
    6. 20 Group Meetings – Bring your Parts Manager to every one of them.

There are many others, but these are the most impactful that come to mind.

3 of the 6 you can do on your own accord as a Parts Manager, if you can’t get your DP or GM behind the idea and pay for in-class sessions at NADA/NCM or Dealership CSI in-dealership training every quarter, or if you’re not part of a 20 Group.

📊 In my mind, if there isn’t dollars to fund more expensive training, that is the exact reason why the Parts Manager needs it.
